Camper loses 5-foot snake at Michigan park
Officials say a 5-foot-long boa constrictor is missing after its owner brought it along on a camping trip in southeast Michigan.
The Oakland Press of Pontiac reports that the man told officials on June 9 that the snake got loose while he was staying in a pop-up camper at the 1,140-acre Addison Oaks County Park in Addison Township, located about 30 miles north of Detroit.
Dan Stencil is executive officer for Oakland County Parks and Recreation. He says the snake is relatively young and isn't a threat to the public.
Stencil says there's a chance that the snake slithered into a crevice in the camper, but officials still are on the lookout at the park.
